Let’s start with a tour of the place:
First up in your tour of the place, over to the left of the page, you’ll find RMHS LLC, the corner where I invite people who are seeking a therapist in Missouri to give me a call (or preferably an email. and get set up with therapy. I have a slightly unusual intake procedure, which you can read more about on over here.
Next, you’ll find the Jenni’s Space blog. All posts go through here first, before they wind up in the category archives where they live until they’re no longer relevant. The blog proper focuses on human rights and mental health. Sometimes I throw in hobbies and hyperfixations, rants and stories. As I add each mutual aid organization and place to go solidarity shopping to the site, it passes through here.
Mutual Aid and Solidarity Shopping
As you move right, you’ll discover the Mutual Aid and Direct Action Directory. This is abbreviated as just Mutual Aid for simplicity, but it contains direct aid, charity, and other assistance. You can search each category by tags or titles. And I organized into a simple hierarchy of categories that is easy to understand. It contains mutual aid and direct action organizations from across the United States and its territories. While a few web sources provide worldwide assistance, this section and Solidarity Shopping focus on the United States.
Finally, all the way over to the right, let me introduce Solidarity Shopping. The solidarity shopping section highlights small businesses whose owners’ human rights are under fire. I try to provide a nice mix of online and brick and mortar stores to choose from. Somewhere in the mix, I’ll get my little t-shirt and mug store back up and running, and I’ll let you know when I do.
After the tour of the place, let’s move on to the goal:
I am trying to create a space here where you learn something every time you drop in. Sometimes you’ll find the help you’re looking for. Often, you’ll find places that are looking for more helping hands. While Jenni’s Space can’t fill individual requests for help, I can always advertise community needs so that people can pitch in. If that’s something you need, contact me and lets see if I can get some help to you.
In no particular order: I hope that this website will drive traffic to my store and stores I stand in solidarity with. Also, I want to build a well maintained resource bank where people can start their searches to find or offer help. Of course, I would very much like if people read and appreciate my content and this site that I build enough to drop a tip in the tip jar or follow me on Patreon. Finally, I would like to make this an easy place for people seeking my therapy services to find me.
Now that you’ve had a tour of the place and an explanation, here’s what I want from you:
First and foremost, I want you to survive, thrive, and build community. I’m building tools here to make that easier. I you want to to find a place to roll up your sleeves and pitch in. And of course, I want you to find the help you need and dig in. When you send me your local community needs, I want to to ask for the moon. When you give to people’s community needs, I want you to dig deep in your pockets and attics and basements.
I want you to take an extra couple moments to check sources before posting. And I want you to smile and pass a dollar, or a coat, or a hamburger to the person who needs it. I want to build a sense of community based on the idea that we’re all in this together. While of course I want to guard the borders of our community from those who wish it ill.
Most of all, I want you to wring every drop of joy out of life and pour the extra joy into the cups of those who need more. In this act of defiance, we refuse the siren call of cynicism and defeatism and triumph. P.S. I’m over chatting on Bluesky most days. Look me up.
Thank you.
